Max already requires specific training for everyone. Would it be particularly difficult to add that? Plenty of companies operate the 73 without the HUD. Was under impression (could be wrong) that United operates with and without.
I don't think it's a particularly great idea for us to take it without HUD. But I'm guessing it could be done.

United 737’s don’t have HUDs, with the exception of a handful of MAX8’s which came with it, but which we don’t use. It’s solely there for me to bump my head on getting in/out of the seat.
