I was at Atlas on the 76 until I was hired at Delta. Delta is much better. The flying was good but flipping from redeye to daytime flying back to Redeye in one 7 or 10 day rotation at Atlas was hard on the body.
- While actually on the road, Delta treats/supports you about the same with transportation, lodging, etc.
- Delta’s pay is much better because of multiple reasons. You are able to improve your schedule at Delta by swapping with the Pot, white slipping or Green Slipping. At Atlas you couldn’t do this very easily if at all and their line credit was most often in the 60s. It’s pretty easy to get to 90 or 100 hours a month at Delta if you want to work hard. Premium pay trips at Atlas were in seniority order all the time so if you weren’t senior you probably rarely got them.
- QOL: You can APD and IVD and personal drop trips when coverage is good at Delta. The tools to improve QOL or pickup better trips at Atlas was scarce.
- Retirement. Delta is much better.
- Other Benefits - Shared Rewards, Non-Rev benefits, plus working for a company that is stable like Delta are other intangibles.
- if you stay at Atlas too long you’ll probably be too comfortable to leave because starting over once you’re making their Captain income is hard to start over on. It isn’t easy but just put the app in app go for the Delta job IMHO.
- Side note: Atlas was as bad as United was with all the COVID stuff. Hard to work for a company that treats or has treated Pilots that way. No company is perfect, but for me that was a deal breaker regarding working at Atlas.
