It's never closed because pay is now an ongoing negotiation between the individual and the pay specialists. If you are satisfied with the numbers and the month ends you will get paid time card numbers. If unsatisfied, a pilot assist case number stops the clock and an STS get ALPA involved in the negotiation. There is no "right number" anymore. Like everything in the modern age, it's up for debate and the presentation of alternate facts.
