They have pre determined training slots they need to fill for each class. A class of 10 might have a few of each type or might be all of one type or any variation in between. Bidding for aircraft I think still occurs on day one of class and is based on seniority. They do run freight separately so guys that only want freight don’t get a surprise on the first day of class.
