On the Bus, do you depart LNAV off the ground or is it selected once airborne? Could a FD have commanded a left turn after reaching whatever minimum height HDG might engage and prior to LNAV engagement?

I don't know anything about the Airbus so if this sounds stupid, it's probably because I am.
These are normal questions I think.
The “MCP” on the airbus…….which really is not even close to being the same thing……will default to NAV…..it’s just that all information from the previous flight would have been dumped.
At 400 ft, that's when the lateral mode will automatically switch to NAV, provided NAV was in your Flight mode annunciator (FMA) on your PFD. The thing is you’d have to deliberately manipulate your “MCP” prior to takeoff for it to switch to HDG on its own………do this only if Tower assigns a heading in leu of your RNAV sid.

the lateral track of bus looked very similar to what you’d expect on the TRUKIN if it were set to 28L/R……but the crew would not have gotten correct FMAs on the takeoff roll if this were the case.

I really don’t know.

I think I’m just going to remind myself continue to emphasize on VVM, slowing it down, not rushing and not rushing the person next to you.
