I think the technology will be available long before the average person will accept it. Meaning until you have the vast majority of the population that grew up in AI society, it will not be widely accepted.
I’ve ridden in the Waymo (Google I think) driverless Uber/Lyft type of cars in San Fran a few times. They seem to do ok within a highly tested limited geographic areas (4 cities now I think). But getting into a pilotless airplane with all of the potential threats of being hacked.
I don’t see the average person accepting that until basically everything else in our society is done by AI. I think airline pilots will be one of these jobs being replaced by AI.
My two cents 30 - 40 years from now. Time will tell.
