While I think the broad strokes of SLI are pretty much a done deal based on precedent, this is the kind of detail that could be presented to the arbitrator and it seems very unlikely to me that an arbitrator would see any basis in policy or "fairness" to completely exclude AS pilots from WB's under all circumstances. I know there's at least some historical precedence for people bidding WB FO slots which went unfilled from the fenced group.
If history is any indication then Alaska pilots will have the opportunity prior to any new hires. This is why it’s extremely unlikely to see new hires get the 787 in SEA. It’s possible you could see new hires in the 330 in HNL due to the commute, but Alaska pilots will most certainly have priority to new hires for all the fenced widebody positions.
