The last thing you need is to be sitting across from people at the big table explaining why XYZ occurred, and I guarantee you the company won’t have your back and will defend their own with “well we provide them with 169 hours of sick if they weren’t able to fly that is an option to use”.

We need to make GFB an every time occurrence for all sick events. This would reduce my health care costs and allow for better treatment options. Also my doctor/patient relationship would benefit and my medication regime would be better understood as temporarily disqualifying. The company would learn quickly that when the FAA is involved there are few things that are unregulated.

I also wonder how the PR angle would affect customers. As much as safety is a part of our marketing strategy would Delta tell a customer that they have a rigorous process that requires pilots prove they are not fit to fly. And that there is evidence that the policy results in pilots flying when they should not and is at odds with FAA guidelines on self evaluation.
