I remember a couple regional FO's back in the day, who were commuting to base to fly stand-ups (the junior lines). They couldn't or didn't want to afford crash pads, so when they finished their turn in the morning they'd nonrev on a transcon to the the other coast, get fed, and sleep in business or first. Then do the same on the return flight, and go back to work on arrival.
