If your a high time FO who wants to upgrade fast, then, as a junior Captain, you can expect mostly sitting Airport Ready Reserve for well over a year if you're in ORD or DFW. Even if you're awarded a RAP line, they will still send you to the airport to sit. You will not even be able to sniff a hard line for at least 2 years. Ask me how I know. Other than than that, Envoy is a good company to work for, and no, AA will not hire you outside the flow unless you check boxes that they need checked to maintain certain levels of internal diversity requirements.
