So go join the military! Jeez...and they deserve to make $$, they are putting their life AT RISK for us to sit on our asses and fly a plane over here.
How many newspaper stories have you read (well I must admit I live in a Navy town, so I probably read more!) about the guy returning from overseas who buys his house from the $$ he saved while off fighting for a year in IRAQ?
Also, that being said, it's not like they can come home, pack food for 12 months, and then live off of that. As pilots, I can pack enough for a 4-day and bring it with me, it costs me <$20. Not bad.
If you don't spend the $$, it's income. I don't know how you can look at it as NOT being income. It's coming in, not going out. I have more important things to pay for, rather than buy expensive airport food.
