At SWA FAs can easily earn more than six figures easy by working the schedule right. Since they aren't restricted in putting strings of trips togther, I've met several FAs that have put together over 200TFP for a month while keeping a decent number of days off. They have all kinds of "unique" clauses. On duty more than 12 hours?...they're paid 2 times their rate. On duty for over 12:30 getting back to domicile and have a trip the next day?..paid at 1.5 times the rate. On duty over 16 hours...paid 3 times their rate. Less than 10 hours of rest on an overnight?..everything pays 2 times the rate. With those kind of rules it's not hard to bring in some cash. My wife is a FA at SWA and during her first 6 months not even working that much she was making more than I did as a third year FO (36/hr) at CHQ. It can be done, but the article is just like all the ones as pilots we complain about..."The top pilots earn over 200K a year...."
