This is true. They might also tell you no, and then what? Not saying don’t try, just saying don’t get too down if you can help it, or too excited to leave.

Way too many pilots seem to let their job define them. They let their carrier define them, and they get all bent out of shape if they don’t like what they see. Like “if I’m not at carrier X, I’ll be miserable,” or “because I’m at carrier Y, I’ve failed.” It’s an unrealistic outlook, and it’s super toxic, especially when you think about what a real 40+ hour 9-to-5 looks like, and what their careers are like.

Take the interview, man. If you get it, check back in in 2 years and tell us if it’s that big a difference. It wouldn’t be for me, but I’m not you, and only you can make you happy.
