Well, that’s certainly true. Vacation is its own conversation, and is usually the better deal, especially for pay/days worked.
Generally, I’ve found if you want to make 80 hours, you can probably do that in a normal month without too much difficulty. But if you want to make more, you’ll probably need to bid a line. Of course that assumes no GS, so take that into account if they are flowing to your Seniority, as that can change form month to month and season to season.
