I never ever put in a SC bid for anything other than the next day. There’s too much randomness still with awarding further out SC and it’s generally better to tactically see where you stand for the next day to pick the most advantageous SC time (assuming you’ve got some seniority to work with).
I do not disagree, and believe your strategy is a good one. My point is that for the better part of a year I have put YS in for SC that cover all of my LC stretches, and this week was the first time I’ve seen this phenomenon of a YS awarding SC more than a day in the future. I understand that it was always possible, but this is the first I’ve actually seen it.
I will likely tighten up my YS going forward.
