HVY,

Okay, maybe I'm a little slow but what did you expect? Are we in this together? No, we aren't. This entire airline profession is like a huge brotherhood which should not be confused for business acumen by one companies management over any others.

Do you get ****ed at SWA pilots because the price their company charges for tickets is going to most likely help put a legacy or two in the grave this year? While we all get along on layovers, jumpseating or in any other social setting DO NOT FORGET that companies are at war (SWA is winning due to very savy fuel hedging amoung other things).

I'm an ex UAL pilot who gave up 10+ years of seniority last year to go Brown. I don't hate or even dislike the union leadership at SWA / Brand X because their company is driving others out of business. It's war between companies, nothing more nothing less.

No, I'm not a heartless bastard and feel for anyone who loses or is about to lose a job. Nor is anyone else with a shred of decency regardless of airline. We all made our choices based on the best data we had, or job offers, location or whatever. We ALL feel bad when one company goes under. I personally wrote 13 letters of rec (12 successful) for guys at UAL and think they are on some very thin ice due to the price of fuel.

Hell, I saw the writing on the wall (job security wise) and walked the walk. Going Brown is personally costing me a tremendous amount of money over the first several years here but it's the long run that one must focus on and strive to protect.

No one on here is rejoicing at your companies straits or your personal position.
