3. Otherwise healthy people who got a case, didn't take care of themselves or maybe were already very run down due to whatever in their life, and the bug took hold and got into the lungs... now you're in a more serious risk category regardless of health.
3. A few folks who just had low genetic protections, ie the 38 year old marathon runners who succumbed quickly. Quite rare, but it happened.
And as you say, at this point everybody should have some acquired immunity from the bug, vaccines or both. That seems to be a very significant factor, once your system has seen it before... my 95 year old aunt is barely mobile in a nursing home, and she just had a case and recovered fine.
Not to be a complete dick since I suspect you are on the side of common sense but have the moderator role to play....
But yeah, those 3 points were readily apparent around February/March of 2020. Italy was the first Country to really report on an outbreak. (We knew about the problem earlier, but if I recall it was Italy's outbreak that immediately preceded the US cancellations of the NBA, NCAA sports etc)
In Italy it was overwhelmingly obvious who was at risk. (and keep in mind Italy, and most countries, are much healthier than the US in terms of obesity). The reports from Italy were that old people, obese unhealthy people and a lot of smokers were the ones suffering from the Vid.
All confirmed by my family members working in the medical field, in Red States, who were actually allowed to relate experiences without the fear of losing their medical licenses.
In HI, guess which "group" had the highest mortality rates. Samoans and Hawaiians. What do they have in common size wise?
The data made it painfully obvious. One side of the political isle wanted the reaction and mandates to go in a certain direction to gain a certain result. When the money ran out in HI, so did the mandates.. That seemed odd to me. Not really but it was funny to watch.
