The CPO can absolutely call a mil members commander to verify service during the requested mil leave period. The military often has 24/7 365 manning requirements. They volunteered, the avail themselves to all sorts of unpleasantness, deployment and other things. In your opinion you don't like it. Sorry, but they have commitments and obligations.
