I attended UVSC on campus and did a few of the aviation courses online. The online aviation classes are great especially as a way to earn college credit for stuff you already know. To learn all that you will need to be a professional pilot the come up a little short.

The online non-aviation classes are a complete mystery as far as format, content, busywork, and grading that they will have. Some of the non-aviation online classes I tried were so ridiculously hard to figure out that I just gave up and took the in class version the next semester. You just don't know what they will be like till you sign up. If you do try these and you get a funny one, drop it asap while you can still get a refund.

As far as the compass test, it's not a big deal. However if it's been a few years since your last math class you will want to review algebra. No Calculus or anything like that. I would find an old college algebra book and go through it.

If you do bad on the test you are still admitted, you just have to take a review (900 level) class before taking college (1000 level) classes. If this does happen and you take math 950, don't take math 990 the next semester or math 1000 the semester after that. Instead take the stupid test again and then take math 1010. The review classes are pretty repetitive and unless you are really struggling you will be up to speed after just one of them.

If you do end up taking a review class think of it as just that a review. No big deal you have forgotten some stuff since high school. Who hasn't?
