It's highly unlikely. Regardless, it doesn't take being as senior as a Delta 330 captain typically is to know to deviate around cells in the summertime. Whoever was occupying either seat when this occurred had a responsibility to try and avoid it. That said, I do want to give benefit of the doubt to the crew because I wasn't there and don't know what they saw or didn't see.
