I am not sure you will be given the choice. From what it sounds like, the HA side is hiring to the HA side, and the AS side is hiring to the AS side. Now, obviously from a seniority list standpoint, you will be integrated by DOH once SLI goes down but I have not heard if or when AS will take over hiring and place new hires on one side or another. As of now, I would apply to both and say yes to whoever gives you a CJO.

Sounds like it won’t matter after September 1? It’s “combined pilot hiring” not exactly sure what that means. With the way hiring and growth go here I would get the first available class possible. My first class was cancelled and I didn’t get another for almost 3 months. It would make a huge difference now.
