Yeah in the grand scheme of an airline career, take the first class available. Even if it means a couple years commuting.

I don't think they'd "punish" you for having a preference, since they like people with roots in their domicile zip codes, but the tyranny of seniority could absolutely punish you, for many years to come, if you let even a handful of folks get ahead of you. BTDT.
