VBs "helped" (in a very superficial, short-term, and unpredictable sense) a very small number of pilots and would have harmed an unknown and unknowable larger number of pilots in every category containing a VB if they had stayed around. This has all been adjudicated. I would have hoped we learned a lesson from this concession, but I guess not all of us have.
Or it was a vocal minority who was worried the majority would try it and like VB, thereby moving your "cheese." Coupled with pettiness from our union, it was pulled down. Even though it was allowed by the agreement, when the union bowed to the vocal minority, it was not in good faith.
