That contract had to get done quick because it would’ve handicapped us if we went into JCBA negotiations on Contract ‘18 rates. Obviously that all didn’t work out as planned and the current state of the company’s finances means you’re not seeing another CBA anytime soon, if ever. Is that the MEC’s fault too?
Yes because they sold us garbage wrapped in certainty and it backfired on them big time. "We have to get this done for JCBA negotiations!". JCBA negotiations never happened... "If the merger fails, we will go right back into section 6!" Well the merger failed and we will never see a new contract outside of a merger this decade. The entire MEC came off like idiots and rightfully so. You never sell a sure thing or "next time". Because "next time" came around and it wasn't so good. I would love to see them try their used car salesman tactics at a legacy because they would get laughed right out of the room.
