I don’t get the angst about this issue.
Any FO at DL has thousands of hours of flight time, and the vast majority have CFI’d and/or been captains before (including military). If a FO ‘forgets’ and blurts the word abort, I’m almost certainly aborting and discussing later, especially < 80 kts
But company policy is company policy.
