Kirby told our charm school class that he looked at FLL. Said it wasn’t possible because FLL doesn’t have the infrastructure. Only 2 runways and our current gates to the NK gates (question was about absorbing NK gates and FLL/MIA base) would means our pax have to leave security and go through it again on the other side, NK only has 12 gates there and he would want 20+ to “make the numbers work.”

He would go into MIA if he could get 20-40 gates, but said AA has that on lock down.

He did mention that he’s not against making our QOL better if it wasn’t a lot of money out of pocket and the company saved money on hotels (and related expenses). Hence why MCO became a base (I’m sure there’s more to it than that).

Again, this is all dynamic and he could change his mind, but relaying what he told us back in April.

Personally, I think it’ll be BOS and maybe an airport in the middle of the country. MCO and LAS would see more growth as well.

I could be off (and maybe I am), but I don’t see South Florida getting a UA base. Hope I’m wrong though because that would be nice
Mco to South America is in the works. Gates, customs, 757/787/777 capabilities, struggling lcc, a chance to **** off American… wide bodies from hubs and narrow bodies south.
