I was LGA based for awhile last year as a nh.

Airbus guys/girls got a line quicker than the 737. The 737 will give you a higher percentage seniority in NY but the 737 has way more short call and long call. Ironically it’s probably one of the best bases to sit reserve and “not work.” And the base is mostly commuters. If you’re willing to live there (I wasn’t) it’s a good deal.

Most intl flying is out of JFK. There is a morning ~6:30am show JFK to BGI over night leave BGI at 2:30pm following day back to JFK that’s pretty good. I also enjoyed the GEO flight (WAT+) 4:00pm departure front end commutable trip, though they changed the return flight to a redeye that lands in JFK at 7:00am day 3. If you’re a glutton for punishment both side commutable. Also some trips that do Day 1, JFK-MIA overnight, MIA-KIN-JFK Day 2. Same profile for other islands too like ANU.

LGA is almost all domestic, with the exception of some DomREp, and Puerto Rico trips/I know not really international. Everything EWR is domestic AFAIK. Tends to go a little more senior because there are a lot of guys that live in NJ and don’t want to cross the bridge.

Im biased, but would recommend the 737 unless you live in NYC or PHL. Airbus lines aren’t that hard to get in LGA and PHL for a new hire. They just opened an ORD Airbus base that’s back filling quickly, every other Airbus base? You’ll probably be on reserve for minimum 12-18 months.

I’ve been based at LGA, BOS, and now PHX. I used to fly the Bus at NK and miss the tray table. But having a line is wonderful. That’s my experience/perspective.
