This would be a bad acquisition for Frontier pilots from an overall seniority perspective. It would require a SLI and all Spirit pilots would be coming over to be on your seniority list even if only a small number of assets are actually kept after the merger. Frontier could have a bunch of pilots post-merger and not need or have to hire for years. Also pilots who are CA at Spirit will be slotted in at F9 in the appropriate seniority position.
This would be good for Spirit pilots as they are hoping they can slide into someone else's seniority list with some status instead of having to start at the bottom of a seniority list.
Actually it would not necessarily mean taking all Spirit pilots. Look back to when PanAm was failing and Delta chose to take only their European operation. Essentially Delta took on only enough pilots to cover the PanAm planes that were brought over. And they did not necessarily come over in order of seniority. Those who came had to be current on one of the planes that were acquired. Anybody who was on the 747s was out of luck.
