I have flown 320s at another carrier, too, and we had no issue with screen dimness on 319s or 320s. Even the new airplanes I will bet $100 that the screens are deliberately dimmed for longevity; I've been in brand new 321s that the freaking screens are dim to the point of annoyance.
the few times I do fly a 319/320 we have had to write up the screens. Couldn’t read the FMA or see anything on the radar during day ops. I’ve flown jets with CRT’s previously and they were not nearly this bad. Luckily it’s once in a blue moon I touch one. 99% of my legs are in a NEO.
