Hell, they couldn’t get anyone in the right seat for less than $100-150 per hour, DEC / street captains would require $200-250 or more.
There is a massive CFI oversupply right now as the post-covid training boom is just really starting to hit full force. You could absolutely offer $30/hr as a new hire FO and you'd fill your classes, since there is no other alternative (no one is really hiring).
The issue will be CAs, but I'd bet there are enough out there at Spirit etc that would jump on $100/hr who were hired low time and aren't competitive in the new hiring environment.
During the post-9/11 years regional carriers were getting new jets over $5/hour or less in crew cost differences.
