I'd be careful taking too much for granted the stability we've enjoyed in our lifetimes. We've been watching pretty interesting events, mostly from pretty comfortable seats.
Our grandfathers got to see some events too, but they were in ring, not the bleachers.
There is nothing in our history even remotely as toxic and dysfunctional as the current admin. Jan 6th. States rights. Foreign policy. Willful disregard for judiciary.
Honestly, for you to even say this, just knocks you down a peg in my mind. It means that you are not looking at the current state of affairs in an objective and unemotional manner. Separating out your political bias. All Americans should be incredibly terrified of the erosion of due process and the respect for the rule of law. This will start to swing both ways, and when that happens, people that are in the cult will start to cry foul. And hypocrisy will flow like the salmon of Capistrano.
