It's all about expectations. In 2021 coming out of Covit. United in the span of 3.5 years hired over 8000 pilots. Basically if you had a heart beat and had an ATP with no experience you were hired. Most of the 8000 were under the age of 30-34 and a LARGE % under 27 years old.

So the boat has left, not only did it leave but it's half way across the Atlantic by now. You can still have a great career here! However the days of rapid movement and quick upgrade are long gone. If you are looking at MCO IAH LAS or ORD not a lot of movement. If you are SFO LAX EWR IAD you will be just fine! Good Luck !
