Believe it or not, prior to 2001 at FDX it was policy not to hire furloughees. When they got the postal contract they broke with that rule for the first time. The people hired at that point were actually the first ones to bring with them any semblance of a "normal" airline culture. It used to be much further off the reservation. I realize that's probably difficult to believe but it was much more screwed up than it is now.
The people that were at FDX before that time had never flown with anyone who had even worked at a major. They bleed the corporate shade of purple. They are 90% of the SM.
Wasn't our current NC at a major before he came here? I'm sure he wasn't the only one.
