They still have some of the best schedule flexibility and work rules for line-holders out of any US carrier, and their x/y list for premium combined with those work rules gives them a lot of power to move their schedule around, work as much or as little as they want, and much more opportunities for premium.

Highest paid Airbus pilots at one point, that’s hilarious. For the past decade or more, Spirit has consistently paid the least for the A320, period. The 401k contributions have also been lower, because it was baked into their business model: cheap labor, growth, cheap labor, more growth, and cheap fares. Sure, you could drop to zero and pick up open time, but the same can be done at most airlines if you put in the effort. Accepting the lowest pay in the industry for decades was never a good deal.
