not to nit pick but the 400 is not the same size as the 800. About 10' shorter.
An all economy class and we hualed 162 in it. With a 1st class 12 1st class seats we hauled 150.
Little underpowered when full and high/hot.
it’s been many moons so my memory is admittedly fuzzy. I remember we carried 126 on the -300, and I want to say 144 on the -400? Also with 12 FC seats. Point being, we carry a lot more in
the same a similar platform.
It had the classic wing so we couldn’t do westbound transcons a lot of the time without redispatching. I was always told the wing was the issue as opposed to the engines, but who knows? (For a minute I thought Aloha ran them to Hawaii out of Burbank, but I checked and those were ETOPs -700s)
