This is correct. Caveat being that you are on a fleet that has access to said day-1 9 hour trips. Which I guess is every fleet but 717, for which this advice/technique still applies, but the math gets more wishy washy. As a serial RES bidder, there is added benefit to letting PB days roll into more SUPP VAC to be used during RES months, while having to bid a REG line just to wash PB days in a piddly (6 hours or less) manner isn't as enticing.
