i don’t want to improve reserve rules at all. When I was on reserve, I never got paid more than 70 hours, long call was 12 hours, short call blocks were 12 hours, and I could do 7 short calls per month. I don’t feel sorry for pilots who upgraded in less than 2 years and are now realizing they are looking at close to half a decade or more on reserve. Our current reserve rules are fine. We even have senior pilots bid reserve these days. That tells me it’s not that bad. Commuting and reserve never go together. That’s just poor life choices.
Thousands of pilots all up and down the seniority list on reserve from the super senior to the plug, but let's not improve reserve because a dozen or two young guys got luckier than me and I'm salty about it.
