Yes. But the point is that for the last 2 years, the effective rate has been right at 1.5%. And, if another 17,000ish pilots join/merge with ALPA, I would fully expect that to come under the condition to permanently lower the dues % to a similar, or even lower rate.
The choice is AA pilots' alone, just thought it might be helpful to have the facts when considering your choice, especially since a common compliant is the 'higher dues rate'. Good luck.
First, IF dues were to decrease from 1.5% if AA were to join, it would be because AA pilots would be paying more than our current 1%. This is a fact.
Secondly, there are many ALPA carriers who dues dollars do not support their airlines union operation. It’s not that pilot groups fault, they are small and the dues dollars are just not enough to support their MEC/LECs without National “redistribution of dues” from other carriers. So AA dues dollars will be increased from APA 1% to help subsidize smaller ALPA carriers.
