They aren't overpaying into the system. The ALPA national structure and support system is overwhelmingly represented by the interests of those big 3 carriers. Each smaller carrier (and large carrier) MEC has its own budget paid by the dues of their respective pilot groups. What helps all carriers is access to ALPA legal, E&FA, government affairs etc., which in turn helps the industry and the profession as a whole.

The first part isn’t true. Smaller airlines have always been subsidized by the larger airlines. This isn’t a secret. ALPA National allows smaller airlines to spend in excess of their dues receivables, but they don’t let them go crazy.
