While at a kids game the other day one of the other parents was talking to me. Hes a high income earner, frequent traveler, and from what I can tell a mainstream type of guy.

He asked me “what ever happened to the little bio? You know, when the captain says that up front are two navy veterans with 80 combat sorties between us and 200 carrier landings etc etc.”

To me, those have always been the most cringe inducing pa moments. Even better when they introduce themselves as Jester and 8 ball.

Moral of the story- it’s not about us. I’m always surprised by what the flying public feels brings value to their experience and an airline. It’s 2025, the airlines have more than enough data on what the customer likes and doesn’t like. With this said, speak to the majority. Just because 6 out of 225 would love to hear me play the guitar (Southwest) there is zero chance that’s ever happening.
