Your example is good, but omits the fact that your sick bank is now back up to 230. I don't like the provision either, but the company apparently was tired of senior dudes cashing in their sick banks through pickups then sick drops. We can try to negotiate it back, but it's going to cost something.
Idk if this is what lead to it, but I know of guys never calling in sick then accumulating 700+ hours of sick. Only then do that realize that they can’t use it all by the end of their career so now you have to play the system by strategically calling in sick (whatever that means to them).
This is one reason I’m in favor of having what DL has. They get their sick time for the year up front. If you don’t use it, you lose it since you don’t accumulate it.
Promotes calling in sick when you’re actually sick and not jeopardizing the other pilot or FAs.
