I have my interview in December and just constantly see TBNT after TBNT on FB. Know someone who was super qualified and did interview prep also get a TBNT. Generally, I think we all agree with you, and sadly, none of us know what's going on with the hiring team. I feel that in the past, if you made it to the in-person event, it was your job to lose; however, at least in my case, I had a video call beforehand with, I think, a chief and an HR. Perhaps this weeded out more applicants before they even arrived. Once you came in, the agenda included a logbook review, a 7-minute scenario, and a tour. I am not sure how they are doing things now.
