When I fly with a hustling FO I remind them that Captain pay is 50% premium for everything (work, vacation, sick leave, CQDL, training). With the new reserve rules an average Captain can make a lot more than an average FO ( narrowbody). There are a few outliers but those FO’s I would argue don’t really have a QOL with one eye on their phone and sleeping like a fireman. Reserve has gotten so lucrative that even the senior pilots are bidding it.
