There is more to the FAA than just controllers. Arbitrarily paying people to go away whether they work in admin or maintenance or training has impacts on the entire system. If the DOGE geniuses like "Big Balls" couldn't reduce overall government spending, I have zero faith they were able to make intelligent cuts to make the agency leaner and more effective.
I don’t know, I spent a couple of years working in a staff position and 70% of the people there were entirely unproductive. Sometimes shrinking an organization makes it more productive. That may or may not be the case with the FAA. Offering an early retirement option would be a good idea in my opinion because most of those folks are just coasting at the end anyway.
