1) I've flown with earplugs in from pushback to shutdown for most of my career. Regardless of aircraft, regardless of headsets.
2) I will not wear a headset above 180, let alone for 6 hours.
3) Using a one-ear headset or removing one side is just weird and will lead to unbalanced hearing loss.
