LCP’s serve at the pleasure of management, and their critiques have a huge part in whether a pilot keeps their job or not. They are closer to management than a line pilot is. I’ve flown with many great LCP’s who are also staunch unionists, and I’ve flown with LCP’s who are 100% beholden to the company while doing their job. It’s up to the individual LCP how they want to be viewed.
