I have a proflight, and find ear plugs vs wearing them the entire flight is more comfortable overall when on a transcon. Short distance is obviously a different story.
I’ve never felt uncomfortable with good quality over the ear headsets and could wear 750/850 or equivalents all day. At least you protect your hearing versus the false martyrdom “old school” way of raw dogging it for comfort in exchange for permanent hearing loss.
