No one is advocating for a list wide retroactive application of this. Just within a NH class. Older pilots have less time at the company so a small advantage isolated to within one class is something I feel is fair and support and would vote for.

That’s about as far as I philosophically take it. And unlike so many in the SSN/random crowd for some reason, it’s not a hill to die on for me. FWIW, had this been the case in my class, it wouldn’t have made a difference as I ended up with almost exactly the same class seniority. While there were younger pilots senior to me there were older ones junior to me so by total coincidence my age/SSN either way would have been pretty much identical.

I just think it’s the better way to do it. The next best way would be date of interview. The next would be a truly random on the spot number generator (or even picking out of a hat) as SSN is set at birth (practically speaking for most) just like age is, so where is the cosmic justice in that if we’re trying to plead to our parents that our sibling got more cookies than we did or whatever the argument is.

I wouldn’t support any retroactive change, I just think age is a better way to do in class seniority because the older pilots will retire first so they have less time here and the younger pilots will all still be there after they are gone. (Medical retirements notwithstanding).
