Yes, being sorted by age vs SSN in 2001 cost me at least 40 seniority #s in my class! Im reminded of it every time I see the monthly bids and see a few in my class just above me that were there because they were older. That being said, more and more of them are dropping off the list as we plod along towards retirement.

As a thought experiment, age is absolutely the fairest way to assign equipment to new hires, especially those hired in their 40’s or later. Even a couple years younger, you would have much more time on better equipment than I ever will - especially so if you are 15 years younger, as some in my NH class were.
All that said, it’s never going to change, and you can’t unring that bell. So… Whatever
