I've been a captain way more than I have been an FO, almost 30 years in, over different companies. Most of the captains I didn't like had spent way more time in the left seat. I hope I learned to avoid that. Back to being an FO. Almost everyone has been awesome, one notable exception: guy that's been a NB captain for 2 decades. Made it immediately clear that it was going to be his way. Most were fringe issues, not direct breaking SOP. But immediately made it clear that nothing I did would make a difference in what he would/wouldn't do. That's '"tone" the wrong way.
